It was one of the loudest most cacophonous noises I had ever heard, preceded by a really loud swerving screech, to the point that all my hallmates heard it on top of their music. And now sirens are blaring from every direction. Hopefully nobody's dead.

So ... how often does this happen on college campuses? I thought drunk-driving was a problem to be found in fourth-tier schools, not among students with 700+ SAT scores.

My husband went to MIT and lived in a dorm near the river. The street next to it had a low height tunnel. Even though the street was well signed, warning about the tunnel, inevitably there would be a crash at least once a year, usually a self-rent moving truck with the top peeled off at the tunnel, driven by unsuspecting students.

Yeah, totally... in those type of schools it's a total bloodbath. You're actually not allowed to drive unless you're drunk. I hear at fourth-tier schools they have big yellow bulldozers come every morning to clear away all the crashed cars parts and flaming wreckage that just litter campus from all the pile ups the night before.

And at fifth-tier schools, students are only allowed to have toy Flintstones cars. And the only majors available are Finger Painting and Play-Doh.

lolz

First, you make several large assumptions there - how do you know that the drivers were students or that they were drunk?
Second, I love the arrogance and elitism there - don't think there's anything I can say to straighten that one up. You'll just have to figure it out on your own.

How is it idiotic to expect brilliant students to party hard but yet party wisely?
