ick, i really hate age discrimination. even more so when it's your own peers.
esp. those guys who treat me like i'm a baby =p

There was a junior on my hall who turned 19 this year.

HEY, MINE TOO!! What are the chances of that :o

I'm 17 now, but will turn 18 by beginning of 06-07 school year for MIT

I'm 16 right now, but I'll be 17 by September!

LOL! A few months back I turned 17 (DOB: November 28, 1988).

I wouldn't let age hold you back a year.

Hey, I'm not ging to MIT but I'll be going to college next year at 16. And no, I don't feel young at all.

I'm 17, gonna turn 18 on November 15th. I never realized how many other young people there were in the US going to college at this age.

16, will probably turn 17 by the time I'd get to MIT.

ANyone here thinking of deferring a year during college? I might defer a year sometime in the next 4 years for mission work in some country.

probably?

what would prevent you from turning 17 by the time you get to MIT?

danielsjang, are you mormon?

nope. Protestant (nondenomination)
Is it custom for mormons to take a year off for missions at this age?

yeah, im friends with a lot of them. its required for the boys i think.

lol.....

i read moron for a second.......... =D

I love how it seems like younger kids do better in school. That seems to be represented in my class too. I guess that's just cause if you're smart you're not held back, but pushed foward.

And again, Mango, just say no to your mom. That's a ridiculous request. Seriously. What does she expect you to do? Work experiance? At Mickey D's? Stay around in your town with all your friends? OH WAIT! They're going to college.

"Stay around in your town with all your friends? OH WAIT! They're going to college."

funnily, most of my classmates /will/ be in town next year working at a place like Mickey D's.

Me: "I got into MIT and Ga Tech!!!!!"
Friend #1: "GA Tech, that's freakin awesome, congrats!!!!!!!!!"
Friend #2: "MIT... Michigan?"
Friend #3: "MIT... Maryland?"
Frience #4: "MIT... hmmm, isn't that a club, like the Girl Scouts-type?"

I'm not even kidding about those responses I got =/

^ haha, that's so true.
For the more informed friends, they were immediately like "wow, congrats!" but for some: "oh cool! Your first choice? ...awesome!"

And for those people, I bring you my second-favorite article ever in The Tech. :D

My favorite part:

Question 4: Is MIT hard?

Proper Answer: No, not at all. In fact, the entire place is made out of soft, pliable materials which make it easy to mold and redesign year after year.

It's a quantum thing.

No, I just forget when MIT starts. I doubt it's before my birthday, though :)
