How old are you?

just call me grandma...

i'm 18 and i'll be turning 19 in october (close to the start of freshman year)... but it's mainly because my parents adamantly refused to let me skip grades out of fear that i would be a social pariah... and oddly enough, i think it's possible that they were right... just my 2 cents

I turned 17 less than a month before coming to MIT. One of my closest friends here turned 17 during orientation. That's not to say starting college young is for everyone though - some can handle it well, some can't. One of my acquaintances was 16 during most of her freshman year. She ended up taking a year off because she just couldn't handle being so far away from home. Think about whether or not you can really take it.

I'm also 18 turning 19 in October and I'm really glad I'm old in my class; maybe you young 'uns don't agree, but having a lot of younger friends has shown me the difference in maturity a year or two can make.

And I'm also 18 and turning 19 in October... interesting! Maybe something more common in the MIT pool?

there ought to be an 18-turning-19-in-october club for you guys. Meet up.. in October

I will one day younger than you, salik.

I will be 18 on may 18th.

i'm 18.328 years old right now...

My daughter is 16 and will turn 17 this summer before she begins at MIT. Age has never posed a problem for her. She has taken courses for a couple of years now with people older than her and it hasn't proved difficult.

I'm in the same situation as hsmom's daughter - I'm 16, turning 17 in June (probably during finals week, mreh - there always seem to be tests on my birthday), I've never had any problem w/ being younger than everybody else (and in reality, it's not really "everybody else" - I have a friend who's also going from my school who's even younger than me, she'll still be 16 when school starts - and I have a feeling there are a lot of younger kids at MIT, but they pretty much blend in with the rest of the crowd).

The only thing that makes me kind of sad is that all of my friends will still be here at home enjoying their senior year, they're not all going off to college with me. I'm watching them all go through the college search process now, and it's weird to reflect and be like "hey, I already did that", and to watch them all go through together what I basically did on my own last year. But it doesn't make me sad at all when they complain about the SATs - that's one thing I'm glad to have put behind me. ;-)

October Birthdays! 1337.

Well, gigog, at least your birthday won't be during finals at MIT -- our finals are usually the second or third week in May. :)

my bday is during fall semester finals :(

my b-day is during spring finals. ughh.. but I celebrate my lunar calendar b-day which is always in the summer. =)

how about the finals for fall semester? when are them?

Usually two weeks before Christmas. This year they were the week before Christmas.

17 turning 18 in february isn't even especially young for MIT :D
That's a few months older than I was when I was a freshman (May 22), and it really doesn't matter

October B-Days ARE 1337!!!!! Yeah, i skipped first grade, or as I like to call it, finger-painting. (although I am sad that I never got to fingerpaint in school :() Anyways, I'm still 17, I turn 18 on October 8 (which is right in the middle of a four-day weekend, yay for Columbus Day!)...sounds like a lot of people are still 17!!! Yay for not being adults yet!!! We should go commit a crime.....haha, jk ;)

You down for the crime thing?

Anyone who is born September or later, let's meet down in Pasadena in August and we'll be the first pre-frosh to hack caltech. That'd be so balla.

That would be the SWEETEST hack EVER!!!!!
