How outdoorsy is CU Boulder?

I am looking into here for college. I do enjoy biking and skiing, but I don't want to do them every weekend. How outdoor oriented is this college? Do the kids go skiing every weekend during season?

There are some people that do every weekend and the school is very outdoorsy. There are buses every day that go up or you could join the snowboard and ski club and just go to Keystone and Breckenridge on the weekends. Some people bike but way more people ski. There are lots of really nice trails and hiking right in Boulder so a lot of people hike up to the flat irons and around the mountains near by. Message me if you have any other questions about CU!

CU has access to outdoor activities, but it is much like any other big state university. There are a variety of interests on campus.

Not to worry if you don’t want to ski every weekend; most kids don’t. Like the others have said, there’s a varied student body with a wide list of interests so there’s plenty of other things to do as well.

My son is attending in the fall and he doesn’t ski at all. Boulder is a very athletic and outdoorsy town but it is also smart and cultured. In my experience there are just as many people who are interested in music or theater as there are in rock climbing or mountain biking.
