Thanks so much!

Thanks so much!

very prestigious

Sortta almost prestigious (but check on Tuesdays and Fridays), though 68% of the population can't pronounce it properly, and there are rumors about the Mrs. ;)

Its reputation is excellent.

As to its prestige, it doesn't matter.

Wellesley is an excellent school and is widely regarded as such. Many prominent women attended, including Hillary Clinton, Barbara Bush (Sr), my mother, aunt and both my grandmothers. ;)
My DD goes to Wesleyan, often confused with Wellesley. She got so tired of correcting pp that she finally just said 'Oh forget it'- "Yes, I go to Wellesley."

I thought Barbara Bush was a Smithie?

Barbara Bush was indeed a Smithie, though she didn't graduate.

Didn't she give a commencement speech at Wellesley sometime in the 90s?

For your potential majors it is especially prestigious.

Barbara Bush attended Smith for a year before dropping out to get married to George. She was a controversial choice for graduation speaker at Wellesley in 1990. Some of the women felt that the speaker should be a woman who rose to prominence on her own merits and others disagreed and pointed to all the good she had done for various causes.

Other prominent Wellesley alum include Madeleine Albright, Diane Sawyer, Nora Ephron and of course, Hillary Clinton.

Wellesley, pronounced WELLS-lee, has a stellar academic reputation.

roshke - are you either a prospective/current student or an alumna? You sound very passionate about the school.

Nora, Guilty as charged!

Probably the top all female school in the nation. Good network. A friend of mine has a daughter graduating this June who has offers to be an itern with both the White House and the Clinton Foundation.

Who can forget one other famous alumni of Wellesley who was Hilary Rodham's suitemate and, more importantly, Grant Hill's mother?

Please don't say you don't know who Grant Hill is. SMILING. Well, maybe Grant Hill's mother is not so famous. What about Calvin Hill's wife?

Other prominent alumnae (being an all-women's college, there are no "alumni") include Madame Chiang Kai-shek, Ali McGraw, Cokie Roberts and Linda Wertheimer (of NPR), journalists Lynn Sherr and Diane Sawyer, and Nan Keohane who's former president of both Wellesley and Duke. By the way, Grant's mother and Calvin's wife is Janet Hill. ;)
