How prestigious/selective is being invited to the top applicant reception?

As much as UCSB is a great school, it was somewhere between a match or safety for me.

I got the letter for the top applicant reception and I’m very happy because it seems as if it almost guarantees admission.

I am curious about how selective it is. If this is very prestigious, that would make me optimistic about my chances at UCLA, USC, and Berkeley.

Can anyone provide some information?

@engineeringfashionista

Were you referring to the Chancellor’s reception?
Did you also get the UCSB Regents Scholarship?
I think that’s a better indication of your chance at UCLA, USC, and Berkeley.

yes i was referring to the chancellor’s reception

i have not gotten any mail about the regents scholarship /:

i would be VERY optimistic about my chances if i got the regents scholarship as it is the top 2% of all admitted students which is a pretty small pool so im not kicking myself for not getting it

@StevenToCollege‌ If someone did receive the UCSB Regents Scholarship, what do you think their chances at UCLA, USC, and UC Berkeley would be?

@collegelife101

I don’t have the number. But I would think the chances are higher for UCSB Regents recipients since only top 2% of applicants got Regents while there were a lot more applicants being invited to the Chancellor’s reception.
