How realiable is ratemyprofessor.com

How reliable is ratemyprofessor.com? For example, if most of the reviews tell me to stay away from a professor, should this be taken seriously?

I've found it to be extremely accurate and trust it blindly.

I use it as one of many tools, and generally seek others besides it. If it's all you have, then it's all you have. If only one or two students posted reviews it is generally not that helpful. It's a great tool.

what are your other tools drab?

Students in my major, students in my classes, cc, Berkeley livejournal community, some departments release review ratings, profs, friends and friends of friends is all I can think of right now.

I usually find Ratemyprofessors.com to be accurate. If it has 10 ratings or more, I guess it should be accurate as opposed to 1 or 2 ratings. I look at the past professors I had and I find the ratings the students gave them and what those students say are true.

Look for the ones with comments. Just going off the number system can be a bit hairy....(Im not sure if 'hairy' is a homophone but whatever you know what I mean)

I like it.

Treat it just like you would any other source on the internet, look for other sources and take it with a grain of salt.

Keep in mind the people who use that site. It's not a mandatory thing, so basically the people who use it are a) really angry, b) really happy, or c) feel that it's their duty to help people out.

If I (hypothetical "I," not actually me) took a great class and loved it, I wouldn't be spending my time rating my professor. If I took a class and my professor flunked me or something, I probably would.

Uhh...this would still skew all the reviews the same way, so those who are graded relatively better will still be relatively better, right?
