UPDATE: Taft no longer updates through email. They announce admissions decisions on March 10th through their admissions portal.

Since March 10th is Monday, wouldn’t Fedex be sent on Saturday? Therefore, if one calls FedEx on Saturday night, there might be an answer. Or could a school be so cruel as to mail FedEx on Monday? I guess the bottom line on that is that an applicant would still find out on M10. I am a parent and 1000 times more nervous than my kid.

I’m not even going to call FedEx, I can’t deal with that stress. Waiting two extra days isn’t that hard after 51 days of waiting.

We are supposed to sign contract/deposit for our current private day school by March 12. It has requested a heads up by February 28 (which I think it already had by teacher recommendations/school report). I would love a head start on serious consideration of the other schools if first choice,a very competitive school, is a no. Current school is very good and goes to 12 so I hope to keep it a viable option.

Can I state again that I think the “Call FedEx” move is silly? A bit of “process hacking” that needs to go out of fashion quickly.

Can’t people just wait the extra day or two? What is the upside of making this call? If there is no package, you get down or perhaps tell yourself a story that something got mixed up in the mail. If there is a package, you know something. Something that you would have found eventually anyway.

We did NOT call Fedex last year, when DS applied, figuring, as SevenDad says, that we wouldn’t know what it meant anyway if there was no package, but calling FedEx was certainly something many people on these boards seemed to be discussing last year. The one thing I want to say is that, at least for us, all acceptances appeared in our mailbox on the 10th, which makes me wonder if they really even came FedEx (since fedex usually comes to our door). Maybe they did, and they were small so they got shoved in our mailbox (I don’t remember the envelopes well enough)–I’m just saying, unless you’re sure all schools really use fedex, rather than overnight mail, you might make yourself worry for no reason if you call ahead. So if you’re going to do this, at least make sure about the Fedex piece for whatever schools you’re waiting for. International applicants, of course, didn’t get the packages that day anyway–they got emails.

I’m pretty sure Andover is the only one that uses FedEx, at least of schools mentioned frequently on here. @Daykidmom, how did Deerfield’s acceptance arrive?

hi guys!! i’m new to cc, even though i’ve been reading loads of forums and i was wondering how andover would notify international students? do they send a fedex package or is it online?

Internationals can log in at MyAndover on March 10, and I think you’ll get a package later, but I’m not sure. Welcome to CC and good luck!

Can you link me to MyAndover please? I am not sure but I cant seem to find it. Similarly, how do we get an account for it? :P

Is MyAndover only for international applicants?

Yeah. They used to have it for domestic applicants too, so that they could check their application, but they got rid of it this year.

Here’s the link for any new readers: How Boarding Schools Notify Applicants 2016 - Google Sheets

@stargirl3 Thanks for the URL! Really helpful to have all the boarding schools on one site with the dates and information. I’m new to CC and can’t wait to share my excitement for boarding school with everyone.

Does anyone know what time Taft updates their portal? All my other schools are at nine, so if Taft updates early enough, I can just go to school late.

I just got my Culver acceptance a few days ago by letter (a month early?) and I’m pretty sure Deerfield sends it by letter as well

@aLax10708, here is from the e-mail from DA “The Admission Committee will be meeting throughout January and February to evaluate applications and make decisions. You will hear from us via email on March 10, our admission notification date.” Probably, the way they notify depends, if you international or not. They also have a portal for applicants as well, where you can check the status of all the necessary elements for your application.

Is that only for internationals? Or do they send emails to domestics to?

The upside is more information. The upside is more time to make an informed decision whether to leave a school we have loved and attended for ten years. Anyway, there is certainly no right or wrong way to approach this and one family’s journey may seem excessive and overwrought/thought to some and another family’s decision to call FedEx may indicate a lack of patience to others. Many roads lead to April 10.

I’m really worried because I still haven’t received Andover’s confirmation postcard. I put off calling/emailing them because I thought the amount of time it was taking to get here was normal seeing as how I’m international. Hoping it just got lost in the mail…I read on their website though that if we had parts of our application missing, they would email us? And I guess nothing could really be missing since everything was submitted online and there are green check marks on the Gateway portal. Still worried though
