If ANYONE deserves to be accepted, it’s you! Sending positive vibes into the universe on your behalf…
Hi @Stargirl3. Thanks for bumping this to the top. I made a few changes, notably with Andover:
Last year a Fedex package came to our home by 11 am on M10. Inside was an acceptance letter. This was well before the 5pm notification on the website came live. Since the Fedex packages were mailed ahead of time (probably either Sat Mar 8 or Sun Mar 9), one could theoretically call Fedex on Mar 9 and see if there are any deliveries scheduled for their home from Andover MA (01810).
I also updated the timings for the Deerfield email (6:52 am)
How does one call FedEx and ask? Is there customer service?
I have never heard of this - calling FedEx in anticipation of a possible notification without a tracking number. I think that doing this borders on mental illness though.
A lot kids did it a few years ago. Honestly, if I were actually accepted, I’d have more fun being surprised by the package.
Me: Hello FedEx customer support. Do you by any chance have a delivery scheduled tomorrow originating from Andover, MA?
FedEx Guy: Sir, Let’s face it. The SSATs, GPAs, extracurriculars, and essays were not really Andover material, now were they? Can you honestly tell me that you are really expecting a package tomorrow from us? I think you meant to call the post office to track the small envelope coming a few days from now.
Heartburner: I remember that from two years ago. Honestly, at the time it seemed better than the alternative, which was kids staring out the window all day hoping that the Fedex truck was late. Before Andover had a portal with online decisions, the routine of acceptances via FedEx and rejections/waitlists via regular mail creatied unneccessarily prolonged angst and heartbreak for kids already stressed by the process.
We were not crazy enough to call Fedex ahead of time. I honestly had no idea what to expect last year on March 10. However I can understand how students and parents would be quite anxious. The choice is really up to you. If you want to track via FEDEX without a tracking number, it is indeed possible. I didn’t know this was possible until I saw it being discussed here.
A few google clicks provided me the answer on how to do this quite easily:
How Can I Track a FedEx Shipment by My Address?
http://www.ehow.com/how_7498345_can-track-fedex-shipment-address.html
…but then you spend all day hoping that FedEx made a mistake.
The only GLADCHEMMS schools that send by FedEx are Andover and Deerfield, right?
Andover: Fedex
Deerfield: email on m10, letter and tube come later via US postal service
Taft: USPS priority mail, arrives on M10. Decision also on portal
Hotchkiss: USPS priority mail, arrives on M10. Decision also via email.
Exeter: email at about 5:30 am, letter/package arrives later via USPS
Okay, thanks. Is there any way to check USPS before, or is that only a FedEx thing?
Hello - I went back thru the pile of old mail that my son kept from last year, and I have a few corrections:
Andover: shipped a Fedex Letter on Sat Mar 8, 2014 to arrive on Mon Mar 10, 2014. Shipped using Fedex Priority overnight (which guarantees delivery by 10:30 am).
Hotchkiss: ships by USPS Priority Mail. Postage applied on Mar 8, 2014 via Pitney Bowes machine. Mailed from Zip code 06039
Deerfield: we did get a package from Deerfield on M10 (my previous info was incorrect). Also shipped by USPS priority mail using Pitney Bowes machine. Shipped on Mar 08, 2014 from zip code 01342
Taft: the package from Taft was NOT US Priority mail as I had previously stated. In fact it was sent normal US first class stamp (using automated Pitney Bowes machine) without tracking. Mailed from zip 06795 on Mar 08 2014.
I’ll go back and edit the spreadsheet
@Mathman1201: I found out that you can in fact track packages sent from USPS. They have to be either priority mail, Expressmail or have some tracking number applied. You can do so by signing up for a myusps.com account. When creating the account you will need to verify identity. Looks like they pull up information from the credit report linked to the mailing address. So your parents will probably have to sign up for it. But once signed up, you will get notified via email or text the next time you have a USPS package destined for you.
Thank you for the information! @sgopal2
Can someone post the link for the spreadsheet? Thanks in advance

Please let the “call FEDEX to see if my golden ticket is on its way” thing die…that IMO, is an example of the WORST kind of behavior that the BS application process brings out.
It says “tilton has a link to get a text notification on March 7.” Is this true? If so how do I sign up?
I think M9 and M10 are going to be the days that my parents give me anti anxiety meds
Would it be a good idea to add another column on the spreadsheet with the names of the postal offices each school uses? Or would that just be redundant? @stargirl3. Just tagging you here, stargirl.
