I'm going to be taking the Nov. Chemistry subject test, and I am starting to freak out. I took hon Chemistry last year, but after flipping through ol' Kaplan, I now realize the gravity of the situation.

Generally speaking, how many hours would it take to prepare for the test (700+) in a 3 week time period? If you've taken the test before and have had some form of chemistry prior to testing, how long did it take you to study (and hopefully do well)?

Can you pick some other subject test? Apparently, at the time of testing, you can change to taking a different test if you think you won't be ready for the chem test.

Taking a different test is not what I feel to be in my best interests. I've taken Math II and got a 730 (retaking on same date) and I've taken U.S. History and got a 770.

Chemistry is really the only viable science test to take given my school classes.

I'm pretty good at Literature, but any subject test that doesn't require much prep has a catch. You never know how well you are going to do (or at least that's how it is for me).

um I took the AP class... and the AP test in May.. decided to take the SAT in June. Didn't do much prep, skimmed through PR, took the practice tests.. nd that was the end of it. But that's only cuz i was in the AP class. I suggest you buy a couple of books, take all the practice tests you can, do all the drill problems, get every concept, since the material isn't fresh in your mind like it was in mine. BTW i had a 4 on the AP exam and a 700 on the SAT. I'd say 3 weeks, week 1 being simple rereading of all the material in the prep books, week 2 doing tons of drills throughout all the books, and week 3 doing all the practice test and reviewing. I bought 3 books, PR, Kaplan, and REA. REA didn't help MUCH since it was way too hard.
