How should I thank my interviewer in an email?

Hi so I just had an interview on campus for a college that is my first choice. I was wondering what should I say to her to thank her for her time in an email (she was an admissions officer)? Also how long should I wait… until tonight, tomorrow, right now, or what?

Thank her for her time, mention one or two things you discussed in the interview, maybe thrown in there that you’ve toured many schools and this one is your favorite.

Do it while she remembers you clearly. Tonight/tomorrow is OK.

Also, if she specifically asked you to do something then let her know that you have done so or that you are in the process of doing so. Showing follow-through is appreciated.

eg, “As you suggested, I’ve uploaded my research paper to the portal supplements area.” or “I have scheduled a session next week with my music teacher to record my cello solos and will upload those as soon as we’re done.”

I guess email is probably how things are done these days, but I think a good old fashioned hand written thank you note would look more favorable, especially if it is your first choice school.
