Right now I’m volunteering only for 2 organizations. One is a local food donation center, the other is also a food donation center, but food is distributed to other countries in need. my question is, should I vaulter for more causes and more organization, or be narrow in my focus? I want to do which ever will help my college admissions.
To be honest, if you have more than 100 hours of volunteering that’s good enough, shows them u care about your community, more than that don’t help much. 2 organizations is enough, don’t stress too much.
Yikes. Again, @Cookiegod , it isn’t about a specific # or quota. It is about demonstrating a commitment and passion in your activities, rather than trying to fulfill some community service “requirement” that simply doesn’t exist.
My advice is to participate in activities you enjoy. Do you like working for these food donation centers? If so, continue with it. Find ways to deepen the experience- organizing fundraisers, rising in the ranks, etc. But please don’t feel that you have to pad your resume with a ton more community service. I really believe that demonstrating passion and care for the community is FAR more important than getting a certain # of hours.
Yes i agree w/ @yonceonhismouth. For instance if you want to be in the medical field volunteer at the hospital and do things that will also teah you a few things while you are there in order to utilize that later on!
