How similar is Seattle University to a LAC ?

Also, Does Seattle University allow you to take a whole range of classes and then decided your major later, or do you declare your major as soon as you enroll ?

Is the Economics program at Seattle University well regarded? Do a lot of students go to grad school to get a PhD?

I posted the same thread on the Seattle University page, but that place is dead so I'm trying my luck here!!

Thanks!!

A. to your first question: Not very.

Actually, its very much like an LAC because it has a Jesuit core requirement including Philosophy, Theology, History, English, Math/Science and Foreign Languages. Its a very good school and highly regarded, particularly in the Northwest. Its an urban campus in the middle of Seattle, but also has lovely gardens and an architectually renowned new modern chapel. It has a highly respected Law School. For kids desiring to go to college in Seattle, but don’t want the gargantuan University of Washington, it is the go-to school…small classes, everyone knows everyone else and a friendly environment. Plus they have returned to Divison I sports, after a hiatus in Division II and III for a few decades.

Whitman in Walla Walla is a classic LAC, but its remote, cold and hard to get to. Seattle University is a very good choice, if that is what you want to do.
