right now mine is about 1.5 pages single spaced. Should I just leave it or should I make the margins bigger to get it all on one page?

I don't know how strict they are, but I didn't want to take any chances so I decreased the font to 10.5. I'm sure it's fine if it's only a half page extra, though.

I think that might be too long for an essay...

Mine has 100 words on the second page. I don't think that should be too bad.

what are the word counts for your essay? For my first one its 786 words which might be too much...

I think mine was shorter than most, about 415 words.

My essays were approximately 500 to 600 words in length. Shrink the font to 10, make the margins less than 1 inch (like .75, .65, .55) until it fits. If at .55 it doesn't, forget about it. Also, try adjusting your spacing. If you MWord, you can go into spacing and change it to somewhere between single space and 1.5 spacing. If that doesn't work then try recasting your sentences, subordinate your clauses and use active voice/active verb. If you really don't want to do all that, 1.5 pages will hopefully be okay.

ok it all fits on one page it just looks a little crowded. maybe i will make the other one shorter to compensate

I don't think I would go over 700...they have to read so many essays that I'm sure they appreciate it when applicants are somewhat succinct.

I think if I were a reader I'd be more annoyed if it were TINY font and no margins than if it went over a little. Don't make it hard for them to read!

Mine was 680 words, single spaced, 0.8ish margins and it fit nicely on one page.

umm my sfs essay is 850
