How strict are they? I am using my QuestBridge essay as my common app essay but I cant seem to trim down my essay to 650 words. The QB word limit was 800 and I barely made that. I have made the essay very succinct and well-written so I am afraid if I start taking other parts out it might weaken the essay. Also, for the school supplements are those strict as well? On a couple 250 word essays I am 20-40 words over. Is this a big deal? Does the common app enforce it? Thanks in advance!

I think anything over 50 words starts to become noticeable. Apparently the common app won’t actually cut you off on the essay section, but think about if you’re comfortable sending an essay in that’s over an explicitly stated limit.

I’m pretty sure they don’t allow more than the limit. It won’t be checked off.
