Hi all,

I was wondering how strict the word limits for supplements are. I wrote my College of Arts and Science essay and I hit about 700 words :S. If I cut it down to 600, is that fine?

Thank you very much!

I’ve always been told it definitely hurts you to even surpass the 500 word limit, because you’re essentially saying to the admissions officers that they made a mistake in setting that word limit…I mean it IS there for a reason. Also, they have a lot of essays to read so they might see it as inconsiderate that you made your essay extra long. Plus it shows skill to articulate everything you need to in as few words as you can.

Personally, I feel you should cut it down to 500.
