I've been accepted into UMD, I just wonder how strong are the university's school of journalism and Robert Smith School of Business?

Smith is very well recognized in the United States. I believe it is #28 on the Business Week list. It’s no Wharton or Goziueta, but it is a solid public business school and with the proximity to Washington D.C., there are some good job opportunities and internships available to the students.

Not sure how journalism is, but I don’t believe that it is very strong at Maryland to be honest.

Merrill College of Journalism is consistently rated in the top #10 of schools in the U.S.

Like others have said, they’re both very strong. They’re also both Limited Enrollment Programs, which means that if you weren’t admitted directly (which I’m assuming since you’re asking about both), you have to maintain a high GPA in lower-level gateway courses to transfer into the major/school as a sophomore.

the journalism school is great at maryland…many anchors have come from maryland…i just watched sportscenter and the host is from journalism and broadcast branch at UM.
