<p>Wha? I know, I'm not tall. 5'9...an inch below average for white American males. But, at one time, I was tall. Up until 9th grade, I was a very tall kid.</p>
<p>The tallest kid in my 8th grade class was 5'11". I was 5'5" in 8th grade. Four years later, I am 6'1" and he is still 5'11". It just goes to show that everyone grows at different rates and starts hitting puberty at different ages.</p>

but you're right, hepstar. My mom's best friend was always the shortest one in her family (still tall for a girl, though) When she was TWENTY YEARS OLD, she had a growth spurt. she's like 6'2" and her husband is 6'4" or so. Their son is in middle school and he's already taller than his dad.</p>
<p>To give some of you vertically-challenged people hope:</p>
<p>My cousin was 4'11" when he graduated from the 8th grade. He always usually one of the shortest people in his class and was always the shortest boy. All of the growth charts said he would top out at about 5'6". However, during his senior year of High School, he began to grow rapidly. By the time he had finished high school, he was 5'11", a full foot taller than he was when he began high school! This is very unusual, but it shows that anything can happen.</p>
<p>Haha, well I'm 4'11" and I'm nearly 18. I'm not holding out for much more height.
Actually, I found out recently I'm EXTREMELY lucky I didn't grow!! It turns out I have a lot of spinal trauma. If I had gone through a growth spurt any time in the last 4 years, I'm probably need back surgery.

<p>Lucky you, molly. Apparently, according to my doctors, because I'm so skinny and tall, that was probably a cause of my scoliosis. I hate my durn s-shaped spine.</p>

I'm not sure if I'm flattered or a little disturbed...
Come to think of it, the tallest guy I know IS always hitting on me...
Now, we've heard some theories as to why short girls like tall guys, but why do tall guys like such tiny girls? Does it make you feel like the protector, more masculine or something?</p>

No, for me it's not necessarily that I feel like the protector or more "macho" for that matter, I just like petite girls. I believe it is intrinsic, though it might be a result of dating mostly short(er) girls. I don't find tall girls particularly attractive despite the hype.</p>

<p>nah, I've never really dated. And I'm actually a little intimidated by large people. Which is odd because I work with horses...but large/tall people kind of make me feel anxious.</p>
