How the hell did this happen?

<p>I just got off the phone with a friend of mine and we were talking about some guy at his school who got into harvard with a 1700 SAT score. it blew my mind. he wasnt a URM or some nobel prize winner either. Even if everything else was great, a 1700? Has anyone else seen anything like this happen? What could possibly explain this?</p>

Right, and we all know how the stories about "some guy" are always true. Ever played "Telephone"? How many "sources" did this story go through before it hit your friend?</p>

<p>Besides, even assuming that your friend got his info from "some guy", how do you know that this "guy" is even telling you the truth? Have you seen his score report? Have you seen his admissions letter?</p>

<p>Please. Stop listening to rumors and concentrate on your own applications/acceptances.</p>

<p>Hey im just posting what I heard. It's from a credible source(my friend) and im pretty sure he and the people at his school demanded evidence before they believed "that guy".</p>

<p>It may be true that the guy got into Harvard, but his SAT score could've really been significantly higher. Or he may secretly be very talented at something that shadows a poor SAT score.</p>

<p>I personally know a guy that got into harvard with 1930. and he was intl student. and asian. (we all know how that decreases the chances of admission)</p>

<p>okay, that's not 1700s but it gives hopes to many harvard-hopefuls.</p>
