Okay, so I'm currently reading Campbells 9th edition.I'm on chapter 6 which explains the organelles. I just don't see how to study this book. The volume of information is so immense and overwhelming. I'm not sure what to know and what to leave out. How do people study? Its pretty difficult-near impossible-to just read and memorize everything. Did you guys make flashcards? Use worksheets? Make notes? WHATT??!

bumppppppppppppppppppp

No.

tanchar

no what???

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Someone I know who got top in IBO (yes, IBO) knows everything in that book.

pretty much just know everything in that book. as long as all that info is kept in your head, finals shouldn’t be too hard to make…

i was off by 10 points off camp this year, not sure about trying next year. but my friend who made it studied campbell like crazy the month before the semifinal (which i did not bother to do). if bio is something your passionate about, you should probably just absorb all of campebll’s info and the semi shouldnt be too bad…

for the open: pretty easy. one read through should be enough imo.

Just try your best to get down important notes, highlight the book, and make flashcards from your notes to test your knowledge. If you can find worksheets, go ahead and use them. You are not going to go far by constantly re-reading Campbells over and over again (unless of course that’s how you learn/study). It’s much easier re-reading your own version of your notes and flashcards. Try making the notes and flashcards for every chapter, maybe do a chapter a day? I’m not sure the average # of pages of a chapter in Campbells, but I know the whole book ias about 1300. Well, anyway, good luck! Hope you make it to camp!

Only problem is I dont know what to study and what not to study. Because every 3 seconds the bok includes random exmaples of stuff and im not sure if im supposed to know that or not. I guess im just gonna take notes and see what happens.

Try your best. Not everyone can be a finalist, even though how hard he or she try. Know yourself
