I took the PSAT and got a very good score. The only prep I did for it was doing a section of the practice psat every night in the hot tub the week before the test, lol. Now, I took the Jan SAT with even less prepping, but I don't feel really good about it. My question is: Those of you with 2100+ on the SAT, did you come away feeling like that your score was going to be that high?

In no way! I took it the first time and got a 1950...which is an ok score, but I wanted a higher score just to be safe. I retook it...knew I did better (I didn't even finish my essay the first time, but I did the second)...but I didn't expect my score to go up too awful much. Turns out, I got a 2130...up 180 points...way more than I expected.

Moral of the long, useless story is...you never know.

I don't know because I haven't taken an "official" SAT test yet, but I think it REALLY depends on the questions and stuff. Sometimes I feel as if I did very well, and I score myself, and it's low. Vice Versa.

I took the SAT three times so I kinda have experience :)

-The first time I took it, I didn't study that much but I thought I did very well. Turns out I didn't do as hot as I thought I would: 2180
- Second time, I really studied my butt off, but I knew I screwed up on some places so I was okay with my score: 2320
- I knew I could do better so I worked even harder and after that test, I really felt like I did well: 2360

So basically, after the first time, I developed a more realistic sense of how well I performed

tchaikovsky: Out of curiousity, how long did you wait after taking the test once to retake it? I was thinking about retaking it but my score's sort of at that borderline point where it's iffy it'll rise much. However, looking at your scores, it seems that it's quite possible to score higher even when the original score was quite high.

Anyway, on topic now. I took the SAT last Dec, and was pretty much certain I'd scored 800 on either CR or Writing, but I didn't for either of them. Too bad there wasn't a Student Answer Service thing for that test; I'd really like to know what I missed. So yeah, you can't really predict how well you'll do on the test.

i remember when i got an 80 on the crit reading section of the PSAT, and I was so psyched! I looked back at the section since you get the test booklets back, and I saw that I had put a little "?" mark next to about 5 of the questions in that section. Needless to say, I wasn't confident about those problems.

I wish I could just add a zero to my PSAT score and not have to take the SAT. Big waste of time.

Well, did I come across thinking my score would be higher than 2100? Most definitely. However, I thought I did a lot better than I actually did.

My 2180 was on the first ever new SAT date--March 2005
2320 came from June 2005
2360 was October 2005
ivis, you can easily and most definetly raise your SAT score! All it takes is practice :)
