We did our CSS, but how we can get IDOC account, We finish our 2013 Taxes and have an electronic copy but how one can upload to IDOC or get an account. We put in the SS and DOB on their site but unable to login.

I read it we need to print out the TAX doc and mail them with all our SS# on the cover page.

First…do your colleges participate and require IDOC? Some do, and some don’t.

It’s been a while since I did IDOC, so this could be out of date info. My recollection is we actually received the IDOC info directly from the colleges.

Some of the colleges do participate…

You can contact the colleges and ask them.

I just talk to an IDOC person and he said that Students who had submitted CSS Profile to colleges will get an Email from IDOC after Feb 4th and that will tell them how to submit signed Parents 2013 Tax return to IDOC, once IDOC gets the doc they take 5 Business days to process it and after that it will be send to all the Colleges on the Students CSS Profile list. It cost nothing extra to send to Colleges.

That’s right…no cost. Glad you got your answer.

Yes, do not think you actually get to UPLOAD documents to IDOC. The “I” does not stand for internet! It is a very manual (and picky) process with a paper cover sheet where you mark what documents you are sending, then placing those documents in exact order behind the cover sheet and mailing them to IDOC. Where they are then made available to the colleges. But they do start the process by sending you an email…

Yes they ask to fill a cover sheet with specific info like Names and SS# and then the Tax return, no clips or
staples, only one sided printing, no folding…
Their mailing address:

College Board IDOC
PO Box 4017
Mt. Vernon, IL 62864

Yes, and anyone needing to submit to IDOC should, get the directions for doing.

Yes one has to do everything correctly the way they instruct you to do. I also read that 2013 Tax return should include all Schedule forms and W2 form all printed one sided and signed by parents…

Has anyone yet received their IDOC account (I haven’t)

^^ same here. We have a few schools with 02/15 as deadline.

Just got my IDOC email with login info . Print my cover Sheet and detailed Instructions.

They asking copy of Form 1099. I dont have 1099 but do have W-2.
Why is 1099 necessary ?

My D just got the e-mail too. I thought I am done with CSS profile. Anyway, I also need to update my FAFSA. At least I have e-filed my tax returns and they were accepted already. It should not be too much work to complete the IDOC and FAFSA update.

Dadfor2014, did you report any income that was reported on a 1099 on your taxes? If not, then it’s just a standard request. Most people probably have at least a small amount of interest, dividends or other that came on a 1099. State tax refund on a 1099G?

FAFSA update is very easy via the Date Retrieval Tool ( which is working now).
IDOC is lengthy and need to follow the instructions very carefully how to fill and what to send.

I did report State Tax refund on my 1040. Will that come under 1099.
I think its called 1099-R, Item # 10 on 1040.

its 1099G not R…

Thats income already consider in my 1040 so why they need copy of 1099??

Argh, we still have not received the IDOC email. Has everyone else gotten theirs today? We have schools with a 2/14 deadline so want to get this process underway ASAP!
