How to Add a Supplemental Recommendation?

Hello,

I’m trying to figure out how and if I even can submit another supplemental recommendation request (I already requested one supplemental rec) via https://mit-recs.applywithus.com/apply/to/mit. Any feedback would be helpful!

Any supplemental recommendations should only be sent if it will add something to your application that will teach the admissions office something about you that will make your application more complete. Do not sent a recommendation that says so and so is smart and hard working… if the other recommendations have already essentially said the same thing. There is no special procedure for sending an extra recommendation. Just have the recommender send it the same way the others are sent.

Two supplemental would be unusual. Please be sure you aren’t thinking more gives you some edge.

I am not thinking that more will give me an edge… I am a firm believer in quality over quantity when it comes to these kinds of things.

I do not want to explicitly say my reasoning, but if I mentioned their positions and most importantly my relationship with the 2 people I want to get my supplemental recs from, I would not be questioned. To any sensible person, it would be a given to get a rec from them and would be considered a huge mistake if I did not (I would even consider there recs just as important as my teacher recs in terms of my personal situation) as they provide a crucial piece to my story.

But that is beside the point. I am trying to find a technical answer on how to submit another supplemental recommendation request.

@minimango call the school. They should be able to help you.

I sent two supplementals as well. I asked the admissions office and what you need to do is print out a supplemental document form form MyMIT and have them send it along with their letter. Best of luck!

The Supplemental Document Cover Sheet that is on your MyMIT dashboard when you click on Application Forms.
