What sort of approach should I take if I simply want to assist/ help out a professor in his/her lab work but do not have a proposal or project of my own? Also I am very interested in biochemistry but I do not have much extra knowledge outside of school learned procedures.

What should I do/ is it even possible to me to find a position like the one I mentioned?

Thank in advance!

Hi! I’m also very interested in working under a professor in a university. I realize that this has been asked a few times already, but I haven’t really gotten a good grasp of how to structure an email if I don’t really have a project and just want to work with the professor.

Should I just ask to work with him/her and observe? Because I don’t really want to be just a lab assistant. Sorry again that this question has been asked so many times.

How do I write a proposal?
Can a assistant professor be a mentor?
Please give me some advice on this email!
Dear ,
My name is Michelle and I am currently a junior at xxxx High School. I am looking for an internship position in your lab for this summer. If it is possible, I would also like to continue to work in your lab during the school year.
My interest in biology, more specifically, medicine, has grown tremendously this past year as I was enrolled in a rigorous AP Biology course. I wish to further pursue this interest outside of the classroom and develop my level of critical thinking by working with distinguished college professors such as yourself.
I hope very much that I could assist you in your research and would be grateful if you look at my request favorably. If you are unable to make space in your lab, is it possible you could recommend some other scientists?
Thank you for taking the time to consider my request.
Regards,
Michelle
Is there anyone who knows what the author of the post did for political science research?
