How to apply for scholarships?

So I’ve just received my financial aid award package...and this is what I got
Michigan grant – 8,526
Work study – 2,500
Fed perkins loan – 500
Fed subsidized – 5,500
Fed unsub – 2,000
Total – 19,026
But really I can’t count the work study so it’s 16,526, which means I still need to come up with 11,128 for the year. My dad can’t help directly, nor can he take out a plus loan for me, and my mom isn’t in the picture to help. I’d really like to avoid 100% of that being private loans.
How do I apply for scholarships? ...if I could somehow cover half of the 11,000 with scholarships, I’d be in a much better position.
My scholarship profile on WA is complete, did they review that with my financial aid, or does a separate department handle that?
Do I need to take any further action if the profile is complete?

Sorry if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it.

I would apply for external scholarships since it seems most of the internal ones (ones Michigan gives out) has gone through for freshman.
