How to approach Penn Supplement?!?

The Penn supplement is a good one for them to ask--so they can weed out people who are applying "just because." I have specific reasons why I am applying, but I am afraid that my reasons could also be a reason someone else is applying. I haven't gotten a chance to visit, nor do I have connections, so I can not write about some really obscure aspect of Penn that almost no other applicants would know. Am I done for? Penn also asks you what career paths you see yourself taking there. How do I make these not generic? Would I have to try and find out exactly what classes my desired undergraduate school offers, and what sort of programs (like internships) I would be interested outside of class?

Could you guys offer some general tips for me and anyone else trying to tackle this essay topic? Thanks!

I spent a good amount of time just looking around their website and reading descriptions about the majors and one caught my eye and it was EXACTLY what I wanted to do after I read more. Just peruse the site and see what you can find. Also some of the generic things may still be the honest reasons why you want to go there. Try to come off as passionate about those things even if they may be said my another applicant. Really try to explore how that thing impacts you or really suits you as a person and how Penn is a place that is unique in giving that experience to you.
Hope this helps.

Good luck
