When is the best time to ask a teacher for recommendations. Is it too late to ask a junior year teacher at this point in my senior year?

How do you politely email a teacher to ask about her progress on your rec? I can’t send a hand-written note, because I live in Texas and she’s in Massachusetts.

Why CAN’T you mail her a handwritten thank you note, thanking her for agreeing to write the recommendation and asking if she needs any further information? Also, you can ask her about when the admissions committees should expect to receive it so you can check with them to be sure they receive it and complete your file.

Writing handwritten thank you notes for letters of recommendation are very good practice and are still accepted in the US mail. :)

No - who else can you ask? You can’t really ask your senior teachers because they’re too new with you in their classrooms.
