I am applying to 3 summer programs:
1 science internship at state museum
2 J Camps

Should I hand a resume to my teachers (the way people do for colleges) when I ask for recommendations, or is this too formal?

anyone??? bumpppp

please help!!!

Just go up to your teacher and be like...

"Can I get a recommendation for so and so summer program" and then explain the summer program to them. Most teacher's will be glad to give you a recommendation. If the teacher refuses, then just ask another one.

I always feel awkward initiating a conversation. Go in before or after school when there's no one to disturb you. If the teacher is working, you could start by saying, " Mr, can I ask you a favor... I'm really interested in __. Would you feel comfortable writing me a letter of recommendation?" Or just begin with a statement, "I have a favor to ask you."
They will most likely be very willing. (Sorry if this part is too rudimentary).

Then, you should as if it's okay for you to get them the necessary information tomorrow, and ask if they would like to have anything in particular. Give them prompts like, "Should I include an activities list, or a statement of future goals?" A resume is good. It's nice if you give them some information about the program that you are applying to.

thanks i'll try that approach tomorrow!
