how to balance my courseload?

hi everyone.
I am entering UCB as a transfer. I want to take a lot of classes in the summer so I can make my fall and spring semester course loads easier. how do I do this? do I have to apply for a part time status? is it easy to get approval for?

how to take summer classes?
easy. you take out your checkbook and write a $3000 check to the school.

sorry I didnt mean that. I meant how do I lighten up my fall and spring semester course load.

It depends on what your major is and what courses you have already fulfilled for major and breadth requirements.

In general, high workload courses are those with labs, term projects, or computer programming assignments. When you make up your schedule for future semesters, try not to take all of the high workload courses in the same semester.

Courses can be fast-paced here at Berkeley over summer. I don’t recommend taking lots of classes in summer since the workload might be overwhelming.

Expect to put in significant effort and time into your classes in any semester. You’re at Berkeley. Welcome.

3 courses is doable, albeit busy, anymore is extremely hard.

Thank you all for your input. I’m a political science major. The college requires 13 units minimum, and each class is 4 units. So how in the world do I take 3 classes? Do I take 1 DeCal? and I read that the Berkeley advisors recommend no more than 1 Pol Sci class a semester. So what else would I take?

is it okay if i take 4 courses over the summer with 2 (ugba upperdiv & r5b) in session A and 2 more (cs70 & ugba upper div) in session D? the two sessions have about 1 week overlapping
