Hi.

I'm pretty sure I'll be going to UCB this Fall but I want to get a head start this summer since I'm pretty sure I'll be switching from Peace and Conflict Studies to Political Science (and have to do a couple pre-reqs for it).

My question is: how many summer classes do people usually take at Berkeley? I'll be doing the June 23 - August 15 summer program and I want to take 2 classes: Poli Sci 1 "Intro to American Government" and a U.S. History class, but I'm wondering if this is too much of a workload.

Anyone know?

thanks.

From my own research...2 classes during summer will be heavy, but doable. Don't expect getting As without putting tears and blood into your work.

lol damnit.

The classes I'll be taking are actually from 07-07 - 08-15 which is an even shorter time!

And instead of Poli Sci 1 "Intro to American Government" it's actually gonna be Poli Sci 3 "Introduction to Empirical Analysis and Quantitative Methods"

crapppppp

I'm taking two classes, but only a total of 5 units, for the Haas mandatory summer schedule. The classes you want would probably total 8 units.

8 units in 5 weeks = 24 units in a 15 week semester (and will feel like more)

If it were me, I would stick to one. Imagine taking 24 units for your first Fall semester. It's borderline irresponsible, not to mention a damaging first experience. This summer will set the tone for you, one 4 unit class will build confidence.

(It's technically 6 weeks, but it may be closer to 5 in practice)

If you get financial aid, 6 units is the minimum during the summer, which essentially forces you into taking 2 classes.

It sucks...

My schedule will be June 23 - Aug 15...so that would be like 8 weeks...

8 units in 8 weeks = 15 units in 15 weeks? Would that be a bit better?

I'm transferring this fall too. Should I take summer transfer class? or just starting 'easing in' in the fall?
I'm thinking about taking IAS 45 and Spanish 2.
Is IAS 45 a manageable class for the summer?
How hard are the classes compare to CC classes?
What and how are the tests like?
