<p>I wanted to know that in order to become a "software engineer" what major should I be studing? is it computer science degree? what should I specialize in at?</p>
<p>btw is software engineer overall a good career choice?</p>

CS is the best major for it.</p>
<p>Some schools offer “software engineering” degrees, but CS is your best bet.
Computer engineering is an ok option as well.</p>

<p>Yeah, CS is the better major. With the software engineering curriculum, some schools want to dedicate a semester-long course to each phase of the software engineering life-cycle. You do not need to do that. A one-semester course in software engineering is enough since each employer is going to have their own tailored way of doing SoftE.</p>
