Hello, I have been told by many sources that it would be in my interest to try to contact the schools I am interested in as it will help me stand out. Now, I have requested information from most of the colleges that interest me (do colleges keep a count on that type of thing?..like how many times a kid has asked for info ect), and is that what people mean by "contacting a college? or do they mean emailing an admissions officer ect? and if I wanted to email an admissions officer what should I say? Just mention that I am interested? thanks...any help would be appreciated.

First find out who your local adcom representative is (the one that will be reading your app). This might be difficult to find on the school's website but I'm sure if you call the admissions office they would be able to give you the name and email address.
Then come up with a list of questions you have about the school (not the admissions process but the school). These can range from specific ECs you're interested in continuing at the school to specific professors you're interested in, etc.
Then decide how often you want to email them. Every day is a little excessive. I would suggest bi-weekly.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

OO i like this thread. So does expressing interest in a school help at all, like, do they keep track of it? I mean, I know it won't help at all but maybe they'll remember your name or something?

Do you think emailing a professor would be a good idea maybe admiring they're work and asking if they'd like some help (unpaid internship?). Idk...I'm kinda taking over this thread with othe questions sorry I'll stop
