Hello,

My parents have dismissed out of hand the idea of a boarding school (my father was shipped off to Millbrook, and hated it), and there are no decent day schools in my area. They are already freaking about the fact that I will consider going to college "far away" (outside the local schools), so they obviously are having trouble letting go of me.

What do I do?

Explain to them the benefits of boarding school, why you think it’s for you, why you think you’ll benefit from it! if it doesn’t work verbally try a powerpoint presentation! impress them with the programs and opportunities available, and what is there that is absent from your local day/public schools. and regarding the sending you far away part, maybe tell them you will keep it touch with skype, fly home every vacation, call home frequently etc. good luck! just persist! :)
