I don't have a letter yet, but I'm pretty sure I was rejected from my dream school. I'm actually crushed and, even though I still have a little hope because I don't have a letter yet, I'm already thinking about how I'll deal with this. I don't know what to do. I feel like everything is being ripped away from me and like I will have a terrible, unsuccessful life because of it. So, in preparation for receiving my dreaded rejection letter, can any of you out there who have been in this situation tell me about how you got over it? Give me suggestions for things that will make me feel better? Thanks.

I actually have been bracing myself for it since I applied. I got really interested in a match school, and recently got accepted to it so I’m all set for rejection. In fact, I got wait listed at another match school which I was somewhat shocked by. But, don’t worry if you get wait listed/rejected from your dream school (especially if it’s an ivy) because you’ll go where you’re meant to be.

good luck though!

Inhale, exhale, and go to your second-choice school!

I’ve been rejected from 2 of my top 4 schools and waitlisted by the 3rd. It’s not looking good right now.

I think AnnaSmith has it right. Focus, visit and research your match school and visualize yourself going there, what you would be doing there as a student. Wear the school t shirt! If the worst happens, you will be ready to say yes to a great school and if not, you will have at least 2 excellent choices.

You will NOT have a terrible, unsuccessful life if you do not get into this top choice school.

You don’t know for sure that you are rejected yet so the best thing to do would be wait. Also, I feel like people are happy where they end up in most cases. Everything happens for a reason! (and i think I know you…hahaaa)

edit:yes, I do : )
