how to decline?

I'm attempting to decline UM's offer of admission and it's a little confusing, can anyone offer any help?

I got directed to the admissions website, but couldn't find anything except withdrawing app info at "ask us." I was pointed over to wolverine access and there was supposed to be some form to fill out and mail/fax over to admissions but I'm having trouble locating that, too.

I also have to decline HC, but I've already emailed about that, which should be enough, correct?

I haven't paid the enrollment deposit yet, but in case they don't get news of my declination by monday (May 1st) is there any sort of fee or something for not letting them know sooner? I had assumed that you could just not apply and they'd take that as a decline, but I guess you have to write in?

Help!

(for the curious, the reason isn't preference. I love University of Michigan, but it's become impossible for my family to pay for it.)

Soumanyon, by not handing in your deposit, you are in fact declining the offer, so do not worry about doing it officially. I hate it whenever a person is forced to turn down Michigan because they cannot afford it. Michigan should do more to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need. Best of luck to you.

So is 'no reply' the denial we should give? I'm so confused about this process too; should I just not respond to them at all?

It is always best to send a short and sweet reply to the university, but it is not necessary.

they do send a yellow form in the accetpance packet that has the choice to accept or deny admissions....didnt you get that?
