How to do Better in AP U.S.?

I am currently taking APUSH and so far, out of the 4 exams we have taken, I have received C+'s on 3 and a B+ on one. Because the AP exam is $90 and I KNOW I will do a lot of prepping for it, I want to ensure that I have a good chance of getting a 4 or 5 (since that’s what majority of colleges accept). How do I overall do better in the class so I can get A’s on the exam and a 4/5 on the AP exam? Thanks!

PS- I’ve tried:
watching videos on the chapters & topics,
creating outlines for chapters
reading the Princeton APUSH prep book (only the sections that will be on my test)

Buy the AMSCO book (2015) and do the practice MC, SAQ, DBQ and long essay for each chapter. It really helps.
