I'm just wondering if it's possible to double major as a transfer student going to a UC, or have a minor.

I'm applying as a double major--I put down one of the majors on the application, then expained my plans in my personal statement.

What is the process like for acquiring a double major, or getting a minor. So lets say you want to go to UCLA under physiology and you want to minor in biomedical research. How would you do it? Would you have to write in on your application that you are planning to minor or major in something, or can you do it once you are at the UC. Is it too late when you are a transfer, because maybe you have to take too many upper division courses for your major....So I'm kinda curious how does this process work, if someone is caring enough to enlighten me.

To double major at UCLA you must complete the preqs for both majors AND take 2 upper division courses in EACH major before they will let you declare the double major. You do not have to let it be known in your application unless you want, or unless you are doublemajoring with a major that is impacted, or both majors are impacted, if that is the case contact each major department and ask them what major you should apply under.

For example if you wanted to do ECON and Pschycology- both are impacted so contact them first and ask them how you should apply so that they allow you to double major.

Minors vary by department. Some require you to take 5 upper division classes for a letter grade, earning a C- or better. Once you do that you just go to the dept and fill out a paper and you're done. Other minors might require 5 upper division and 3 lower division classes. Some have pre-reqs (like yours would probably have a math pre-req), etc. Just go to the school/dept website you want and read about it.
