So I have been playing piano for ten years, and good at it. I am 9th grade btw.
Now many people have been playing strument for long years so this might not be so sound good enough. I practice piano every day two hours and I have lesson at state university from piano professor who are very intelligent and I personally think she's genious. She graduated the Julliard School of Music, so even this can tell enough she's very intelligent. I want to major biology but my piano is almost good enough to major it. Of course not like so great college, but in regular school. Now, how can I emphasize this in college application? I don't want to just leave one line simply mentioning I am good at piano. No, I personally think I deserve more than that. I mean I practice two hours a day, everyday. Any different instruments have great way to show in college application like All State Orchestra/Band, unfortunatelly piano does not have that. Should I go to competition and record as much as possible? Btw all piano competition have levels, and how does college admissioner(?) knows that I got 3rd out of national level(or state) or 1st in regional level? It is very different. I hope that piano can be express more in college application. I love piano and going to play piano for rest of life.

And any idea of showing extracurricular as swimming? People might think I am little doing harsh, but I also swim two hours every day. So....I practice piano two hours + swim two hours,,,and do my homework study sleep go school (and I love it haha). Should I make some state records? My swimming is not intelligent as piano but I have three years so I may try.

On college applications you’ll be asked about honors and awards as well as activities. That’s where your regional and national honors will be listed. You’ll also write a couple essays, and you may want to highlight piano and/or swimming in them. I’d also recommend that you record a CD of your playing and submit it with your application.

When you go to visit colleges, you can set up meetings and sample lessons in advance with piano faculty. That will not only give you an idea of how you feel about a particular school but may give you a person within the department who could advocate for your admission.

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH.
What you told me really help me solve my hesitation what I need to do.
I had idea of recording video of myself during competition. But maybe recorded CD will be great idea.

And does anyone know how much benefit I may own, when I think about good colleges like IVY? Does winning in national level competition or even state will benefit much of admission process? Plus of good grades?

As a swimmer, I can say that the commitment of doing it for a few years (you’ll have 6 years by the time you start applying?) will look good. Having good times would be beneficial if you want to swim in college, as you could get recruited (for D1) or talk to a coach who could help you get admitted (in D2/3). I’m not sure if colleges care about records beside the fact that to have one, you probably have a good time as well.

In any case, doing a sport (varsity especially) for a period will always help your application. Go for the best times you can. Swimming is about 50% natural ability, so do what you can to get good times, and that’s the best you can do.
