How to explain low GPA due to eating disorder?

I heard its not wise to bring up an eating disorder, but with a 2.89 freshman year and a 2.9/3.0 sophomore year i wouldn’t get admitted. (I was only in advance sciences)
Should I mention how my eating disorder ruined my gpa or leave it out?

It looks like you’re going into junior year? Work as hard as you can junior year and decide what to do next summer. You may need to take a gap year or attend a community college - but those aren’t necessarily bad things. Applying to college is stressful, adjusting to college is stressful, doing well in college is stressful, graduating college is stressful.

Taking a slow and steady path that promises success is a better option than pushing yourself into stressful situations and risking a relapse. You also probably won’t need to submit ACT scores, which your previous post says is an 18.

@Autumnal No, im going into my senior year, im retaking the act again this September. My junior year was a 3.3 / 3.5 (two C’s first semester in English and Chemistry, I took all required classes no APs or honors, but im taking 1 AP and 4 honors per semester -total of 6 honors- senior year)
All my grades are : 2.89/2.99 (advance science)
3.0/2.9 (advance science)
3.3/3.5 (no advance classes)

I also had a emotionally abusive relationship as well as a eating disorder, freshman and sophomore year, would me adding this make it seem like im making excuses?
(All the colleges im thinking of applying to have a ‘add more’ part at the end of the application)

How exactly did your eating disorder affect your grades? Everyone has issues that they deal with during high school, and unless it was incredibly serious/life threatening or required serious medication/medical attention, it may come off as an excuse.

Discuss this with your guidance counselor. The best place for a medical problem that affected your grades to be disclosed is on the GC recommendation if possible.
