<p>I am a rising senior and am beginning my job hunt for May 2011. I am making a list of organizations that I would like to work for after graduation but don't know how to proceed after that. Do I e-mail them now and say that I would like to work for them about a year from now? Should I start sending out cover letters/resumes for positions that may not yet exist?
I am aware of how difficult it is to find a job in this economy and hope that by starting early I will have something lined up by the time I graduate. I am hoping to work at a think tank doing research or working at an NGO for int'l dev't but know that there are many qualified applicants looking to work in similar fields. </p>

<p>This is a really good question, and I wish I knew since I am also a rising senior in college. I know a lot of students end up using college job fairs and stuff like that through the college to get their jobs after graduation. Other than that I don’t really know much either, especially concerning people with Liberal Arts majors like me.</p>

<p>Hey I’m an IR major too! You ever thought about going to the foreign service? I’ve recently been thinking about that, and am definitely going to take the test some time this year. It is definitely an extremely difficult process, but in a way I feel like at least the method of getting to the foreign service is clear and defined making it more attractive to me.</p>
<p>Your best place for job search is you school’s Career Center. I hope by now you are very familiar with what they have to offer. Go online to see what they have at this point and make sure you pay them a visit the first thing after you get back to school in the fall. Most companies hire from the target schools that they go to recruit during the school year.</p>
