How to Fix Completed CSS Profile?

I did CSS Profile before parents filed tax return, andnow they filed it and I want to make changes.
HOwever, when I try to fix it all the app gives you is the option to add a college, and I don't know what to click on to make updated corrections.
Any help would be grealty appreciatedf!@!

Contact the CSS directly with your question. It is almost certainly in the FAQ section . I believe that in the past they advised people to contact financial aid offices directly with updates but you really should check out what the CSS site says — things can change year to year.

Last time I went through this each college’s fa office said to print a copy and handwrite the changes. I don’t think there’s a way to adjust the online form, unless that’s changed in the last two years.

^^ditto, hardcopy corrections.

Yeah, I just finished my son’s a couple days ago, and it’s right there toward the end of the application – it tells you that if you need to make corrections to an already-submitted Profile, you need to make them by hand on a print-out of the submitted Profile and send those changes directly to the college(s).

wowowwowoow, thats sso stupoid

College kid, the year my son was applying colleges, I had to submit an estimated Profile. he was applying ED and the deadline was in November for the Profile, so I had to really wing it answering questions about the tax year that hadn’t actually even ended yet.

As it turns out I was pretty close in my estimates to the final numbers after we did our taxes. I did not send in a corrected version of the Profile just for those minor adjustments, although of course I sent a corrected FAFSA after we’d completed our taxes. The college never asked for a post-tax version of the Profile either.

I think if your estimated numbers are close, it may not be necessary to send a corrected Profile. You should call the college and ask. The bottom line answer is always “do it they way they want you to do it.” :)

Yeah. I talked to people at U of M about updating my PROFILE. They told me they don’t even look at the section about estimating 2010 data, or writing how much your parents expect to be able to pay for college, so if your errors are in any of these areas, chances are it won’t matter.
