How to fix Microbladed eyebrows

I know, first world problems. I had my eyebrows microbladed five years ago, and then again two years ago. They looked decent after they were done, but now I’m stuck with eyebrows that have a slight pink tint at the top, and are rather blotchy in the middle. I have to use eyebrow pencil twice a day so they don’t look obviously bad, and they still don’t look great after applying the pencil. I am not a makeup wearer, so I don’t like to do this twice a day. I thought about going to a clinic for consultation, but I feel that everyone just wants to sell you what they have (or do), not what is actually the best solution for you. So I turn to the experts at CC for my brows.

Naturally they are bushy in the inner half and sparse on the outer. An eyebrow brush doesn’t help where there is no hair, sadly. These are the options I’ve come up with, what do you think?

  1. Get them microbladed again (though I guess I'd end up with the same issue a year from now, and the last person who did it told me you couldn't keep doing it).
  2. Get the semi-permanent makeup removed (though laser removal is expensive and painful). There are some home remedies, but I don't know if they would work. And then my brows would still look bad.
  3. Get an amazing brow pencil to cover it all, that I only have to do once a day (but does something like that actually exist)?
  4. Use something like Revitabrow or Rapid Lash (Latisse sounds like there could be permanent side effects) to try to grow the brows to where they should be, to cover the microblading and look natural. Though whether that stuff actually works or is just a marketing ploy, I have no idea
  5. Attempt to grow my bangs longer or get Elton John style glasses to cover it all.

Any advice from the pros? Seems like it shouldn’t be so hard to have decent eyebrows!

I’m probably far from what you want, but I’m happy with Cover Girl “easy breezy brows”.

Thanks, @dragonmom, I’m definitely willing to look into anything. It’s good to know from people I trust to tell the truth about what works, not just from people trying to sell something to you.

Why are you having to apply the pencil twice a day? Do you touch your eyebrows a lot? Maybe you just need a different pencil. (said the person with bangs that cover her eyebrows so uses nothing on them.)

Bangs all the way here in Bunsentown. My eyebrows suck to the point no pencil will do. However, Chanel makes a nice one, and Benefit has a bunch of brow products that look good.

I don’t think I touch them much, but after awhile, it seems like the pencil wears off and looks blotchy again. Maybe I should just find a really good pencil. Or a magic marker.

I would be amazed to be able to grow bangs long enough to actually cover my eyebrows, that’s impressive! I will check those two out.

Pre-Covid, Macy’s had a great Benefit Brow Bar. Sigh…

What is microblade?

Another vote for Benefit but I don’t know if they’ve reopened.

Microblading your eyebrows is basically a tattoo for sparse eyebrows

Here’s an article explaining it
https://www.instyle.com/news/what-is-eyebrow-microblading-guide-facts

@busdriver11, I thought you had to touch up the microblading every couple of years. The article referenced above says that also.

I think I would try and find another technician and see how they can fix them.

I use L’Oreal Brow Stylist. It’s like a mascara. I was told to buy a shade lighter than hair, so it doesn’t look too obvious.

I’ve never microbladed, but as I get older my eyebrows are getting sparse and lighter in color. I use a pencil by Hourglass: Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. I do have light bangs that go to the side, but I use the eyebrow pencil every day, and have never had to re-apply. It fills in the areas where there aren’t brows, and slightly darkens the areas where there are brows but they are too light to show.

I think I need to just go online and order a bunch of products you guys have recommended, and see what works best for me.

Maybe I should see if they could microblade again, the last lady made me think I couldn’t do it.

Has anyone here tried Latisse or any of the other hair growing products?

@deb922 thanks for that article, that really explains it well. Maybe I can get an appointment with that artist. She definitely sounds like the expert.

I’m low maintenance so probably not the best one to give beauty advice and I prefer a natural look. However, repeating something you haven’t had success with seems to me to be the wrong course to follow. Why “double down” on something you’ve been unhappy with, especially something semi-permanent?

Whatever path you take, do take comfort in knowing that nobody else is going to focus on your eyebrows as much as you yourself will.

Actually, I was happy with it the first time, for awhile, and even the second time. My eyebrows have always been poor, so having nicer ones with no effort was appealing. I am extremely low maintenance, so it is definitely a positive to not have to do any work.

The reason why I’m looking into it is because my son asked me why my eyebrows looked the way they did, when I thought it wasn’t too noticeable. Apparently it is .?

Wow, I never thought about my eyebrows. Now I’m afraid to look in the mirror!

I use Benefit Ka-Brow I’ve been very happy with it. To decide if you like it or not, you can get sample sizes at Sephora

I have had my brows microbladed three times; I have never heard that you can’t get them done repeatedly. They are only supposed to last 1-3 years, so you are in that window right now. I have been reasonably happy but next time I’ll see a different practitioner hoping for an even better result.

As for brow products - it’s Anastasia all the way:
