After reading many posts on the forums (thanks for the advice!), I have set aside a specific email address that I would like colleges to send important information to. Many colleges are still emailing my personal account, which will lead to clutter and vital information being missed. How can I get schools to email the college-specific email address? Can this be done en masse, or must I do it individually?
You can write one email and BCC all the colleges.
Are the colleges writing you from an SAT/ACT score, etc. or did you request info.
I would go to their request info, and put your write email there.
If you requested info, I’d write to each schools admission office and ask them to update your email.
Change the email address that is on file with College Board and/or ACT. You can go into your account(s) and edit/update the email. Some schools will have purchased your email prior to now and will continue to send you emails (from now until eternity ). Unsubscribe to those that send you emails to your personal address.
I would suggest creating a third email that you use just for applications. That way you don’t miss important emails that require some sort of action/response from the schools that you applied to.
i didn’t request information for ~90% of the colleges i’m contacted by. there are only a select few (maybe 5-10) that i’m interested in hearing from.
Create a filter for those ones you actually want and you can have it autoforward to your new one.
Once you apply you will get email at the email address you provide. These are all feeding from email lists the colleges purchased.
Let the other spam emails build up in the old email. You can also click at the bottom to unsubscribe from emailing you.
