How to get into Berklee College of Music

I was wondering what are my chances of getting into Berklee. I’m a guitar player, been playing for 4 years, practice 1-2 hours a day, know jazz guitar classical guitar country guitar and rock guitar, can read music, and know theory. I think I’m okay at guitar and am creative but I would consider myself a pretty sloppy guitar player. What are my chances of getting in?

I’m a freshman in high school currently

Do you take lessons?

Yes

Well actually it will depend heavily on them being wowed by your audition. Have you looked at the audition requirements and the repertoire you would need to play? That might give you a better idea of what to aim for.

@MusicMan12 as you describe your playing right now as sloppy your chances are very slim but you have over 2 1/2 years to improve your craft. Acceptance rate on GUITAR and VOCALS is quite low compared to other instruments simply because more people apply. Work on cleaning up your playing and feeling what you play. Work on ear training and work on Jazz also as this will make your playing much better. Check out books on Amazon published by Berklee and buy several of them. These will help. You may also want to switch or add an instructor who can challenge you.

@rockinmomab thank you very much for the info, I will work on getting my accuracy up to where it should be.

What about grades and test scores?
