Title says it. Is it only available to undergrads at Texas, BYU, UIUC, or other top 5 programs, because I talked to recruiters at my school and they hadn't even heard of it before? Does anyone know what MAcc programs get recruited heavily for TAS groups, because that looks like my only shot at getting in?

Also, do any regional PA firms have groups like this, or is it limited to Big 4/Grant/BDO?

1) You really think big accounting firms will limit who can get into Advisory to just the students at “top” 5 programs? lol
2) Recruiters at your school haven’t heard of what? TAS? Then they are idiots.
3) You change career goals more than the second-hand switches seconds on a clock.
4) And what intrigues you about TAS besides the words “Mergers & Acquisitions”?

It’s mainly limited to top schools, they don’t recruit for it much elsewhere. Regional firms have it. TAS has more than M&A. Top MSA programs, go for it.

If investment banks limit the schools they recruit from to a select group, why can’t Big 4 TAS, which is much more prestigious than the rest of the Big 4 groups and thus demands brighter students?

I meant to say my school’s career services, but I agree, they are idiots.

I agree, however, my main goal at this point is to get into a top MBA and that’s remained relatively constant, even though industries I’m interested in (right now its consulting) have shifted. However, you are right here.

Work is moderately more interesting, better experience for top MBA, better pay (?).

Dawgie: Sounds good. Would you say even on the MSA level that its mostly UT/BYU/UIUC, or are there other schools you’d add to the “top MSA” list? I’d imagine that Michigan/USC would up there as well, but any other notables off the top of your head?

TAS is basically available in the biggest offices (NY, Chicago etc). Only top students at top schools seem to be recruited, and even then it’s no guarantee that you’re in the door. Things I’ve noticed:

-Many students who start in TAS have already interned in audit before interviewing for their TAS position.
-Students hired focus a lot on their finance coursework too, and read the WSJ daily. I don’t know if the interview process is different, but it seems like there’s a higher standard.
-Also know a few people who’ve worked for the FASB for a year, and then gone to TAS.

That being said, I’m not the most familiar person with this, since I don’t work in a huge city. These are things I noticed based on conversations with people from my school (ND) that started in TAS, or alumni already working in TAS.
