What are the top macc programs as far as getting recruited by a big four firm?

I heard binghamton has 95% of its students recruited by a big four

It does? Go there then. Who cares.

You’ll be really bored to death that one year there.

it mostly depends on where you want to work. usually you can’t go wrong with reputable state schools.

how’s Depaul sound?? Im interested in going there.

@dsteve27

I go to DePaul in the Chicago at the moment. All of the top four accounting firms heavily recruit here for internships and full-time positions.

UT-Austin, UC-Berkeley, Virginia, Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Washington, apparently BYU

Recruiting accounting is mostly regional. Attending one of the top programs in your state/region will be a boost in recruiting. BIG4 recruits.

Is a very very top school a gamechanger when it comes to recruiting? Like UTexas, Uillinois, and USC? Like by how much do odds of a job increase if you are at one of those programs vs a BC, UF, Baruch?

For Miami": Would you rather be a Utexas grad or a UFlorida grad?
For Boston Big 4: would you rather be a BC or a USC/Utexas grad?
for new York big 4: would you rather UIUC/Texas or Baruch/Rochester?

UTexas, BYU, Notre Dame is better than BC for Boston Recruitment. I’ve seen it with my own eyes at 2nd round interviews. I also know this recent recruiting season Notre Dame kids were interviewing. They are clearly better schools for accounting.

i doubt texas, byu, and nd are better than BC in boston… i’ve heard otherwise… perhaps nd, but DEFINATELY not texas and byu.

You have no idea what you are talking about. UT Austin and BYU are interchangable rank #1-3 for ungrad and grad program.

@arajput23,

what are the admissions standards like? GPA/GMAT scores? Also, since I would be an out of state student, housing options? Thanx.

I agree with Dawgie, Ny0rker obviously doesn’t know much about accounting programs. UT has been the #1 undergrad accounting school for like 20 years straight and for masters, when it’s not #1 its because another great program like BYU is currently in that spot. Notre Dame is clearly much better than BC as well.

Texas is the #1 accounting school. But the large majority of the its graduates end up working in Texas. http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/mpa/traditional/MPA_Fact%20Sheet08_4.FINAL.pdf

From what I’ve seen, there is a good amount of recruiting from the northeast, but it’s not as if firms from up there are going specifically down here to snatch up a lot of students. They seem to take only the best (especially for NYC).

The majority of the recruiting is still regional.

Yea it’s not like the firms are targeting them. But if there is any interested from the student, they have a great shot.
