The cost of attendance at Columbia Law School is ninety-one thousand dollars per year.
And, according to their website, “[Financial aid] awards generally cover only a portion of the total amount required for tuition and living expenses.” I’m guessing that’s not a very large portion, either.
Unemployment and underemployment is a very big problem for lawyers these days. This might seem extreme, but my opinion is that a person whose plan for paying for law school includes getting loans and paying off those loans with a law job after graduation should not attend law school. Yes, the law job market is that bad.
