How do you pay for NYU with no aid offered?

Hi, after being accepted to NYU for the 2017-2018 school year, I had to turn it down due to being offered no money at all. If I transfer to NYU my sophomore or junior year from UC Davis, but receive no money again, is there a possible way to pay for the school with minimal loans? Btw, my parents are paying $40,000/year wherever I go

The best aid usually goes to freshmen. If you didn’t get any aid from NYU now, I wouldn’t expect any as a transfer either. You can only borrow ~$5500/year on your own, so I don’t think there’s really any way you could attend NYU without your parents taking on massive debt.

There are a lot of great schools you could attend for $40k. What made you pick NYU?

Like, UC Davis apparently?

OP, does your comment about transferring from UC Davis imply that you are already a student there? If so, are your parents able to afford the cost (given whatever financial aid you have received) without any loans? If so, then you are already in quite a good place.

It is very common to have to turn down universities because of being admitted without sufficient financial aid.

If you couldn’t pay for it freshman year, you can’t pay for it later. Stay at Davis, move to NY after graduation.

NYU is going to cost you the same amount as a transfer as it did as an in incoming freshman. If the school didn’t give you a dime of aid this time, it is NOT likely they are going to give you more as a transfer.

If your parents can pay $40,000 a year…either stay at Davis where presumably you are an instate student…or find some college to transfer to that costs less than $40,000 a year.
