How to get recruited?

hey guys, i was just wondering how the recruiting process for athlets works?

i've been quite a bit on the harvard athletics page and found something to apply with, but it just asks you in my opinion meaningless stats and received awards... in case that is all i'd have to do to get recruited, do i have to submit this file when submitting my normal application or how would this work?

thanks a lot guys, btw my sport would be volleyball...

Contact the Head Coach or recruiting coordinator (usually an Assistant Coach) for your sport with an email summarizing your stats (academic and EC) and athletic background--and whatever else you want to say about yourself and/or to explain your interest in the school. You can go with attaching a Sports Resume also--better to send the latter "snail mail" with cover letter. The email is a good thing to do NOW if you're a junior--get the ball rolling. See if you get a response, etc. After that, there are specific NCAA rules around how/when they can contact you if interested. You might get a similar response by using recruiting form (I'm not sure what you mean by "meaningless" stats and awards) but the above is a little more personal. Disclaimer: recruiting varies by sport: bigtimers/populars (e.g., football, hockey, lacrosse) have a whole different process and identification of recruits is early and through various sport-specific venues from the start of high school). My suggestion is for the less popular ones where aggressive outreach recruting may not be the norm.

well, by "meaningless" i mean spike touch and vertical jump... although they are related to volleyball and do help you a lot if you're got at it, i've seen guys jumping to the roof of the building but not having any technique whatsoever enabling to beat the block or "aim" their spikes... but thanks for your response, i'll try to contact them

Also send your SAT I & II scores, class rank and number of people in graduating class, and GPA. They will combine these to estimate your Academic Index (AI) which will indicate your liklihood of academic qualification. In your sports stats, include your height too.

hey i got recruited last year for track so if you have any questions, just PM me.
