I'm a non-native speaker and I get a very low score on CR. Only about 400s. Can anybody helps me to improve my CR score? I think my biggest problem is to interpret the passage to answer the question. I can understand the passage as a whole but I hardly can answer any question. Also, I can understand the part of the passage that the question is referring to, but I cannot understand the relation between the answers and that part of the passage. So I think that my problem is to interpret the passage into something that can answer the questions. Thus, can anyone gives me advices to improve my score? Does anybody understand my problem? Please help me!
Oh yeah, Sorry for my poor English ^^

Even if you aren’t a native speaker, there are still ways for you to improve!
Honestly, the only thing to do with the SATs Critical Reading is to practice, practice, and practice. There aren’t any real “tricks” to answering correctly, but with practice, you’ll get the general flow of how the problems are structured and evaluate your errors.
Best of luck!

Derp. You can’t “become” a native speaker unless you haven’t learned any language yet.

I suggest not taking but studying as many practice tests as possible so you can understand this relation.

I’ve been studying English my whole life and still got 610 on the CR section… I’m not a native speaker either, I recommend you get vocab lists from study books, or there also vocab apps for various devices. Read a lot, too!

thanks guys. But can anyone help me with my interpreting the passage into something that can help me solves the question ? I have done many practice but I still cannot get the hang of it!

Do you have a passage you need help on?

Long-term, you need to read as much well-written English as you can.

Short-term, get some SAT review books, take the sample tests, and then carefully read the explanations of the correct answers.

You must get 2400s everyday.

I’m suffering the same problem.

lilmelonred: I’m suffering the same problem.
Have you found the solution yet?

This is how I am tackling it. I tried to answer a few and got results from 550 to 680, and like everyone in here, I am trying to reach 800.

In my opinion, the only way to increase the score is by learning a list of SAT words first, and then try to tackle the passage.
My problem was that there were many words that I didn’t know and I just didn’t understand the passage. I am currently working on a list of 1000 words and trying to learn 50 everyday.

Maybe we can create some kind of subgroup to try to tackle it together. I am looking for any new way to increase my score.

I will update when I will retake CR tests again.
